Fishing Reports

A Weekly Update

November 2020

11-1-20 Stripers have come into the lower basin with numerous boils and bird activity. Best results remain to be trolling and fishing underneath the boils. Bigger fish appear to be still hugging the bottom. Tactics include throwing white swimbaits and jigs, allow them to settle to the bottom and retrieve slowly. Nine pounders have been caught.

October 2020

10-25-20 Fishing for stripers remains spotty with the higher water temperatures. They have receded to 74 degrees and big fish have shown up, but the success rate is day-to-day.  Three days last week produced Stripers in excess of 5 pounds and in good numbers approaching 30. Looking forward to the cold front this week as it will start to normalize these summer-like water conditions. I’m posting pics from this week to my Facebook page for you to see.

10-11-20 Water temperatures are stable at 76-79 degrees. Trolled for Stripers this week, caught double digits, but relatively small. Shad are in the area but I don’t see larger fish frequenting the balls of bait fish yet. Most Stripers are small ranging in length from 8-12″ with quite a few numbers and an occasional over 4 lbs. Fishing in depth of 20-25 feet. Can’t wait for water temperatures to drop and the bigger fish to show up.

10-4-20 Conditions remain stable with not much change in fishing conditions and catch rate. The shallows remain flooded with average to below-average Redear, occasional measurable Large and Smallmouth Bass. Havasu Net Em clients are catching up to a dozen or more Redear, average length 12-13″. Trolling for Stripers a little bit more fruitful in early mornings, but once the sun comes up they retreat to deeper depths. Looking forward to air temperature drops which will facilitate the start of Striper season

September 2020

9-29-20 The start of the season saw water temperatures at 79-80 degrees. These higher temperatures are prohibitive for finding Stripers that are not super deep, although the water column is full of 8-10″ baby Stripers. With these higher temperatures, we’ve targeted Redear and Small and Largemouth Bass. One trip last week saw clients catching their personal best Smallmouth and Redear. When the morning air temperatures start to dip into the low 50’s, the water temperature will drop, allowing the Stripers to come up into accessible ranges. Looking for this to happen mid to the third week of October. Can’t wait – book now!
